How to setup and use Gift Cards or Certificates

Setting up Gift Certificates or Gift Cards is fairly simple. Follow these steps:

Click Setup.
Click Register on the left side.
Make sure that "Gift Certificates" is checked.
Select "Require Tracking". This will allow a tracking number to be assigned to the gift card as it is sold so it can be reloaded.
Other settings here control if the gift card can be refunded, has an expiration date, and the maximum discount amount.

To sell the gift certificate follow these steps:

Select the client you wish to sell to.
Click Register on the left side.
Click on Other Items.
Click Purchase Gift Certificate.
Enter the amount of the gift certificate and enter the tracking number and then click OK. A bar code scanner can be used to scan gift cards with bar codes on the back.
Enter the name of the person for whom the gift certificate is being purchased.
Click Tender and complete the transaction as usual.

You can also manually edit the values of gift cards.

For security purposes new gift certificates can only be sold through the register. Once the gift card has been sold, it is able to be manually edited inside the software.

Click on Setup.
Click Register on the left side.
Scroll down to Gift Certificate in the Payment Keys Accepted section.
Click the Gift Certificates button.
This will open a new window listing the gift certificates. You can search for a specific tracking number by entering it in the field on the upper right and clicking Find.
Clicking on the gift certificate will open a second window.
The information in the Current Value, Expires, and Popup Memo fields can all be altered. Other information cannot.
Click Save after you have made your changes.
You are also able to DELETE a gift certificate by clicking the Delete button.
Once you are back to the Gift Certificates window, click Close to exit the window or edit another gift certificate.
